Abstract

|
The cerebral circulation has been of interest to anesthesiologists for many years. This discussion proposes to review briefly clinically relevant information which recently been obtained. It is presented as follows
1) Anatomy of the cerebral circulation in normal man.
2) Measurement of the cerebral.blood flow.
3) Factors controlling cerebral blood flow.
4) Basic physiology of the cerebral circulation in normal man.
5) The influences of anesthetics on cerebral circulation.
6) Reactions of the cerebral circulation to acute brain disease.
7) The implications of these findings for the patient management.
